My name is Andrew and I run a course teaching Football, Hurling and Camogie ‘As Gaeilge’ to children aged 2.5 - 4.5 with the idea that when they come of age, they will join the nursery/academy of their local club.

As the father of a three year old, I found it difficult to find activities for him to participate in, which is why I decided to start one ourselves. As Gaeilgeoirs, my wife and I thought doing the course ‘As Gaeilge’ would help prepare the children for when they entered a naíonra or Gaelscoil.

We are currently running the sessions from the arena in the Donaghmore Ashbourne GAA Club on Sunday mornings and they have been a huge success. A number of other clubs have reached out to us about bringing Gaeltots to their areas so we have decided to set up a second base in Trim.

Given the limited activities available for children of that age, we think parents in Summerhill would jump at the chance to join in the fun. It would also ensure that those children joined the Summerhill GAA nursery in the future, rather than take up another sport.
